Heathcote stormwater investigation for flood mitigation

McIvor Creek near Shakespere St 2017 Flood

The City of Greater Bendigo aims to reduce future potential impacts of flooding in Heathcote and is undertaking a stormwater investigation to determine infrastructure needs. Several locations within the township could experience flood following major rainfall and the frequency and extent is predicted to increase in the future.

The study will focus on understanding the stormwater impacts to the town and mitigating the stormwater and associated local flooding risk from tributaries of McIvor Creek such as Caledonia Gully, Possum Gully, Long Gully, Golden Gully, Dead Horse Gully and Parsons Gully, causing regular stormwater damage.

We know there’s a wealth of wisdom, knowledge and skill in the community and we’re keen to hear from everyone on all angles, including interesting stories from past floods.
