Waste and recycling is important to the City of Greater Bendigo. To this end we provide a weekly garbage collection and fortnightly recycling collection.
Throughout the Bendigo region more and more recycling bins will be popping up in parks, gardens, sporting grounds and public places.
It is important to limit the amount of recycling which ends up in landfill. That’s why the City is installing public place recycling bins in high traffic areas throughout the Greater Bendigo region.
The new bins are specially designed to take all recycling including plastic and glass bottles, drink cans, paper, take-away coffee cups, even empty pizza boxes.
When you’re out and about, look out for public place recycling bins because we want your recycling to go to a better place!

Waste Management Groups in Victoria have been restructured by amalgamating the 12 existing Waste Management Groups into 6 new groups. This means that the Calder Regional Waste Management Group, of which the City of Greater Bendigo was a member council, has now amalgamated with the Central Murray Waste Management Group and the Mildura Regional Waste Management Group forming the Loddon Mallee Waste & Resource Recovery Group covering 9 local government areas.
Cr Barry Lyons serves as chairperson of the Loddon Mallee Waste & Resource Recovery Group Board.
