Heathcote Streetscape

The Heathcote Township Plan was adopted by Council as its meeting on Wednesday 17 July 2019.

Included in the recommendations are potential improvements to High Street, extension to walking and cycling paths, additional tree planting, the need for an off the leash dog park, improved visitor signage as well as a number of planning scheme changes.

A key recommendation of the Township Plan is to establish a Heathcote Committee. This committee would oversee the implementation of the Township Plan and would provide advice and input into a range of other council projects.

Expressions of interest for membership of the committee will be advertised shortly.

If you would like a hard copy of the plan please email [email protected] to request a copy.

Background

Heathcote is a well-established town that has a good range of services and facilities, has the potential for further growth and offers a lifestyle alternative to living in the Bendigo urban area.

The Heathcote Township Plan will build on these strengths and will provide a framework for how the town can sustainably grow and develop into the future. It will go beyond planning for new housing but will also consider Heathcote’s future commercial, community and transport needs.

The study area for the Heathcote Township Plan extends beyond the town boundaries to include the surrounding hinterland.
