Community Halls

There are a number of different community buildings available around Greater Bendigo for public and community group hire, with halls and meeting rooms in a range of shapes and sizes, providing multifunctional spaces in heritage to modern facilities. They are used for both regular and occasional meetings of community organisations as well as private events.

Each facility is managed by volunteer committees of management. These committees oversee the day-to-day operations of the buildings, and seek to maintain them as fit for purpose on the City's behalf.

Though many of the hirers of these buildings have their own public liability insurances, the City can provide public liability insurance at no cost of up to $20,000,000 for hirers who do not have their own cover. Details of this cover may be provided by a committee of management.

Australian Manchester Unity Hall

Tucked away along High Street in Eaglehawk, this hall serves as an important meeting space for local community and activity groups.

Axedale Public Hall and Preschool

Located along McIvor road in the centre of Axedale, this hall is home to the local preschool and is also available for use for community and private activities and events.

Bagshot Public Hall

Bagshot Public Hall is a weatherboard hall built in 1909, which serves the local community as a social venue. It is available for public hire.

The East Bendigo Progress Hall, located next door to the Bendigo East Pool.

Bendigo East Hall

A large main hall with small stage, and basic kitchen facilities

California Gully Mechanics Institute Hall

This historical facility has been renovated and managed by the rotary club of Eaglehawk since 2005. Consisting of a great hall, meeting room and kitchen facility, it can accommodate a wide variety of community activities and functions.

Eaglehawk Hall

This venue is has a number of well-appointed useable spaces, able to accommodate a variety of activities and events such dances, exercise classes, drama groups, cards and board game meetings and book clubs.

Gateway Park Function Centre, Kangaroo Flat

Available for hire and set in the parklands of Gateway Park, the Function Centre is the home of the Rotary Club of Kangaroo Flat.

Golden Square Community Centre

Nestled in a unique native garden, the Golden Square Community Centre is available for a wide range of community groups and activities.

Goornong Memorial Hall

Goornong Memorial Hall is located along the main road in Goornong, and has a unique red brick facade.

Heathcote RSL Hall

Located along High Street in the centre of Heathcote, the RSL Hall hosts a range of different private and community events throughout the year.

Resources for Committees of Management

Council can provide public liability insurance at no cost of up to $20,000,000 for hirers of Council owned or controlled buildings and or land. Exclusions and limitations apply, please read the form carefully before submitting.
