Community Halls

There are a number of different community buildings available around Greater Bendigo for public and community group hire, with halls and meeting rooms in a range of shapes and sizes, providing multifunctional spaces in heritage to modern facilities. They are used for both regular and occasional meetings of community organisations as well as private events.

Each facility is managed by volunteer committees of management. These committees oversee the day-to-day operations of the buildings, and seek to maintain them as fit for purpose on the City's behalf.

Though many of the hirers of these buildings have their own public liability insurances, the City can provide public liability insurance at no cost of up to $20,000,000 for hirers who do not have their own cover. Details of this cover may be provided by a committee of management.

Marong Historic Shire Hall

Seat of the former Marong Shire Council, this large, red brick hall is available for use with community activities and events.

The Quarry Hill Hall and Pavilion, located on the Quarry Hill Recreation Reserve, is a large public building available for community use.

Quarry Hill Community Hall

Situated beside the Quarry Hill Recreation Reserve, this mud brick hall is a bustling hub for community groups and activities.

Raywood Town Hall

The Raywood Town Hall is a historic brick building, built in 1878. It hosts a number of community activities, as well as being available for public hire.

Sailor's Gully Hall

Located just out of Eaglehawk, the Sailor's Gully Hall is a functional community space available for hire.

Sebastian Community Hall

Sebastian Community Hall is a small rural hall servicing local community activities, with a kitchen, play area, and tennis and basketball courts.

Spring Gully Hall

The Spring Gully Hall is a community building located on Spring Gully Road, and is used for a range of community activities such as dance classes, as well as private hires.

Strathdale Community Centre

Nestled in the open green surrounds of Strathdale Park, the Strathdale Community Centre offers a variety of training rooms and a large hall for hire with access available 7 days per week.

The Historic Strathfieldsaye Shire Building has a brick facade and many shady trees.

Strathfieldsaye Historic Shire Hall

The Strathfieldsaye Historic Hall is the old Shire building located along the main road to Strathfieldsaye, and is available for community use.

Woodvale Public Hall (Crown Land Facility)

The Woodvale Public Hall, is a Crown Land Facility, managed by a Department of Environment, Land, Water & Planning, committee of management.

Resources for Committees of Management

Council can provide public liability insurance at no cost of up to $20,000,000 for hirers of Council owned or controlled buildings and or land. Exclusions and limitations apply, please read the form carefully before submitting.
