The City of Greater Bendigo is asking for patience as it works to undertake grass maintenance across the municipality.
City of Greater Bendigo Parks and Open Space Manager Chris Mitchell said the City’s annual grass maintenance program has been delayed due to the transition to new contractors.
“The City is already receiving requests for slashing and mowing from residents and while our contractors are working through the maintenance programs we do ask for patience.
“Our contractors are working hard to get to all areas as soon as possible and we anticipate most locations will be attended to in the next two or three weeks.
“Residents with concerns about a particular area can visit the Bendigo Community Compass website and enter the address to see if the area of concern is on the City’s slashing and mowing program.
“The City does not slash or mow every road reserve within the municipality as many of our country road reserves play an important role in providing valuable habitat for native animals and contain important indigenous species.
“It’s also important for the community to know that the City is not the only authority responsible for grass cutting and slashing on Crown Land areas. Other authorities also play a role in undertaking seasonal slashing works.
“Managing vegetation is always very challenging for the City, other responsible authorities, residents and landowner at this time of the year.”
