City seeks members for Positive Ageing Advisory Committee

Media release

The City of Greater Bendigo is calling for older adults who may be interested in joining its Positive Ageing Advisory Committee (PAAC).

City of Greater Bendigo Community Partnerships Manager Andie West said the Committee is an advisory group to the City that provides feedback and advice on behalf of older adults on matters of concern or interest related to positive ageing.

“The City’s PAAC increases opportunities for local older adults to participate in and contribute to activities, advocate for the improvement of physical and mental wellbeing of Bendigo’s older adults and integrate the needs and interests of older adults into relevant City plans and projects,” Ms West said.

“This is an opportunity for older local residents to contribute to positive ageing initiatives in Greater Bendigo.

“The City is looking for six community members aged 50 or over who are actively involved with older adults, representatives from groups and organisations that support older adults and would like to be part of the Committee.

“Members will need to demonstrate their ability to represent the views and needs of older adults at regular committee meetings and contribute to positive ageing in the community.”

The Positive Ageing Advisory Committee meets approximately six times a year.”

The positions are for two-year term. Applications are now open and interested community members can submit an online expression of interest to join the Committee. Applications close Tuesday June 20, 2023. Written expressions of interest will be accepted.
