Follow the trail to sweet treats in honour of the latest gallery exhibition

Media release

In honour of the latest Bendigo Art Gallery exhibition, The Australian Women’s Weekly: 90 Years of an Australian icon, residents and visitors are invited to follow the special Sweet Treat Trail that has been inspired by the magazine’s famous birthday cakes and recipes.

From frosted cupcakes, delicious slices, and fabulous flans to bite-sized goodies and even cocktails – there is something for every kind of sweet tooth!

The trail features 12 stops at a range of businesses that are also Bendigo Tourism members.

Manager Tourism and Major Events Terry Karamaloudis encouraged residents to indulge in the specialty menu items.

“We are delighted that local businesses are supporting this latest exhibition and are contributing to this fantastic trail of sweet treats, adding to our great local tourism offer,” Mr Karamaloudis said.

“The Australian Women’s Weekly has been a staple in homes for 90 years, sharing recipes that have inspired many mid-week meals, special dinner party menus, iconic birthday cakes and beautiful slices that have that trusted home-made taste, made with love.

“The businesses involved in the trail have been inspired by the celebrated history of the Weekly and put a modern twist on their creations to produce something unique that pairs perfectly with celebrating the exhibition.”

The Australian Women’s Weekly: 90 Years of an Australian icon is on at Bendigo Art Gallery until Sunday August 27 and is free to visit.
