Local businesses invited to sign up to Business Victoria workshops to be held in March and April

The City of Greater Bendigo in partnership with Business Victoria is presenting two workshops in March and April to help support local businesses. 

Starting Your Small Business is the first in-person workshop in March. This free session is taking place from 10am to 1pm on Wednesday March 6 at Bendigo Library Activity Room 1, 259 Hargreaves Street, Bendigo.

This workshop allows participants to understand and learn the essentials of establishing a small business and planning for success.
 
The topics covered include:

  • Identifying the structure that would best suit your business
  • Choosing your business or company name and learning how to register it
  • Insuring your business and choosing the right premises or online platform
  • Create a business overview that describes your business
  • Products or services and what makes them unique
  • Create an action plan to guide you in starting your business
  • Discovering additional resources

Generating Cashflow is the second in-person workshop which is taking place from 10am-12pm on Tuesday April 16 at Bendigo Library Activity Room 1, 259 Hargreaves Street, Bendigo.

Cash flow is crucial for business success and this two hour session helps businesses to identify cash flow drivers, understand the cash conversion cycle, and improve their business forecast. It is suitable for beginners and people who are seeking a refresher course.

The topics covered include:

  • Profit versus cash
  • Cash conversion cycle
  • Suppliers and cash flow
  • Improving your customer collections
  • Marketing, managing stock and cash flow
  • How to prepare a cash flow forecast
  • Discovering additional resources

City Manager Economic Development Ben Devanny said these were free high calibre in-person workshops presented by experts in the field. 

“If you are thinking of starting your own business or have just taken the plunge, this first workshop is a masterclass on what you need to consider,” Mr Devanny said.

“If you have an established or emerging business, generating cashflow is critical and this workshop shows you how with simple steps.

“These Business Victoria workshops will be very comprehensive and helpful in sharing knowledge and providing great tips, so I encourage businesses to register today.”
