Residents invited to vote on screen design for new Elmore Public Toilets

Media release

The City of Greater Bendigo will commence construction of new $520,000 accessible public toilet facilities and a Changing Place in Elmore in November and is asking members of the community to vote for the image they would like to see featured on the privacy screens on the front of the new building.

City of Greater Bendigo Property Manager Daniella McClure said two design options have been developed for the screens.

“Option one features a Kookaburra and is the same image that is showcased on the current welcome to Elmore township signs while option two is an image of the historic Elmore Railway Station and water tower,” Ms McClure said.

“Residents can vote for their preferred image by visiting the City’s Let’s Talk website by Friday November 10, 2023.

“The option that receives the highest number of votes will be featured on the new screens.

“The City is committed to providing accessible public toilet facilities in line with its Public Toilet Strategy and to improving disability access across the Greater Bendigo community.

“The new Elmore public toilet facility will feature five unisex cubicles, two DDA compliant unisex cubicles and a Changing Place to provide suitable facilities for people who cannot use standard accessible toilets.

“Works will commence in early-to-mid-November, 2023 with construction expected to be complete by June 2024.

“During construction portable toilets for use by the community and visitors to the township will be available at the southern end of the existing Elmore Miniature Railway carpark.”

This $520,000 project is being funded by the City of Greater Bendigo along with a $110,000 grant from the Victorian Government.
