The Heritage Design Guidelines help you identify what era of dwelling your house is by its features and built form.
Council endorsed the Residential Heritage Design Guidelines 2026 and Commercial Heritage Design Guidelines 2026 at its meeting on 18 May 2026. These new guidelines are intended to replace the Heritage Design Guidelines 2020 and can be used by property owners and designers now as up to date advice. However, the existing 2020 guidelines will continue to formally apply to planning applications until they are replaced through a planning scheme amendment. A planning scheme amendment to replace the current guidelines with the new guidelines into the Greater Bendigo Planning Scheme is currently underway.
