We have traineeship and apprenticeship opportunities that combine work and training while you achieve a nationally recognised qualification. Trainees and apprentices are employed by the traineeship and apprenticeship provider while working at the City. We are committed to creating a work environment that supports and encourages you to achieve your qualification.
Types of opportunities
From time to time, trainee and apprenticeship opportunities may be available across a range of service areas. These opportunities help people gain hands-on experience while working towards a qualification.
Opportunities may include:
- IT – information and technology, including webpage edits and updates
- Business – business administration, governance, procurement, community wellbeing, property services, finance, YO Bendigo and strong communities
- Mobile plant technology – works, diesel mechanic, trucks and large vehicles
- Arboriculture – parks and open space, including tree maintenance
- Sports turf management – parks and open space roles that look after City sports grounds
- Early childhood education
- Civil construction – works and road works
- Live productions – Bendigo Venue & Events, including lighting, sound, stage setup, bump in and bump out
- Animal studies – animal care
- Parks and gardens – including Bendigo Botanic Gardens, Rosalind Park and the Municipal Baths
- Conservation land management – parks and open space
- Customer engagement – customer service, phone and email enquiries, public requests, communications including social media, photo library and videos
How it works
The City of Greater Bendigo works with local traineeship and apprenticeship provider CVGT to source and employ suitable candidates. Candidates perform and learn while gaining their qualification at the City.
