The City is inviting local artists to express their interest to exhibit their art in local businesses.
About the exhibition
Eat. Drink. Art. exhibitions will run from Saturday March 15 through to Monday May 12, 2025 to coincide with the Frida Kahlo: In her own image exhibition at the Bendigo Art Gallery.
To apply, artists will complete an expression of interest that includes one signature work that relates to the theme of Fiesta, alongside other original works.
Artists will be responsible for all sales inquiries and will be required to have their own public liability insurance.
Work will need to be installed between March 10 and March 14, 2025 to coincide with the Frida Kahlo exhibition launch.
Promotion will occur through the Cityβs website, and on social media.
Information for artists
The following requirements apply:
- Exhibiting artists will be required to include one signature piece that relates to the theme of Fiesta, alongside other original works in their exhibition
- Selected artists will exhibit art at their own risk
- Artwork on display may be offered for sale. Unless other arrangements have been made, businesses will pass enquiries directly to the artist. Any sale of work is entirely the responsibility of the artist and does not involve the host business and as such the host business will not claim any commission on the sale
- Works must be exhibited from Saturday March 15 through to Monday May 12, 2025
- Expressions of interest must include 3 examples of artistβs work
- Artworks must be suitably framed and ready to hang for exhibition
- Where possible, selected artists will be asked to supply a link to webpage for promotional purposes
- Selected artists will be required to supply a head shot and a bio for promotional purposes
- Selected artists must be available during the week of March 10 to March 14, 2025 at a time suitable for businesses to install artwork
- Artwork is to be removed the week of May 12 to May 16, 2025 unless other arrangements have been made with the business
- Artists must participate in a final evaluation survey
- Artists will be selected by a panel and matched with a participating business
Artists are required to have their own public liability insurance. Please discuss your situation with us if insurance is a barrier to participation.

Guidelines:
- Included works cannot replicate the image of Frida Kahlo or use the name of the artist
- Works must avoid any appropriation of Frida Kahlo's image or works
- Works can use bright colour palettes, respectfully reference Hispanic designs and/or Mexican themes
Expression of interest submissions close on Monday January 20, 2025 at 5pm.
Selected artists will be notified by Wednesday January 29, 2025.
