Child Friendly City

In 2007, Bendigo was the first city in Australia to be recognised as a Child Friendly City by the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF). The City is no longer a part of this program.

However, the City is currently a signatory to the Victorian Local Governance Association (VLGA) Child Friendly Cities and Communities Charter.

The Victorian Child Friendly Cities and Communities movement works to bring individuals, organisations and communities together to collectively uphold and individually practice the principles of the charter.

As a collective, we will work alongside children to empower them to act as active and engaged citizens and share their unique perspective with their communities.
