Encouraging Healthy Choices in Junior Football
Marong Junior Football Club has been a strong supporter and a repeated participant of the program, recognising its value in shaping young players attitudes toward health and wellbeing.
Coach Daniel Bourke says the initiative aligns closely with the club's commitment to both enjoyment and personal development.
Supporting Participation and Wellbeing in Netball
Strathfieldsaye Junior Netball Club has also seen the benefits of providing healthier reward alternatives for their players.
Club President Rebecca Soulsby highlights how the program helps shift the focus toward active and positive incentives.
We chose to participate in the program because it rewards participants with healthier incentives, such as swim passes and cinema vouchers, rather than the typical fast-food vouchers.
The program has benefited participants by giving them opportunities to engage in physical activities they may not have previously considered, while improving their overall fitness levels.
We encourage other sporting groups to apply, so they too can recognise participants and support their health and wellbeing.
A Simple Way for Clubs to Make a Positive Impact
The Healthy Sports Rewards program provides an easy and effective way for clubs to recognise effort, encourage participation, and promote lifelong healthy habits. By linking rewards to positive behaviours, clubs can create an environment where young people feel supported, motivated, and inspired to make healthier choices.
This program is delivered in partnership with Bendigo Community Health Services.
Express your interest
Would you like free vouchers for healthy experiences to use as rewards for your junior players?
The Healthy Sports Rewards program runs an online expression of interest twice a year to align with the summer and winter seasons of most local junior sports.
The online expression of interest is now open, and we encourage all local sporting clubs with junior players to apply. It will close at 5pm on Friday September 4, 2026.
Please note, clubs can only receive rewards once per year and must be within the City of Greater Bendigo municipality to be eligible.
