Compost made from Greater Bendigo’s kerbside organics collection will be available for free on Saturday March 14, 2026.

Small, 6x4 household trailer-size loads and prebagged compost will be available for collection from the City of Greater Bendigo’s Depot in Golden Square, entry via Thistle Street. 

Bookings are essential and can be made from Monday March 2 to Friday March 13, unless fully booked prior.

Places are only open to Greater Bendigo residents and are limited to one per household. This event is likely to sell out so book early and be prepared to queue while cars and trailers are loaded on the day.

Trailer load tickets: please remember to bring a tarp to cover your compost. You will not be able to enter if you aren’t able to cover your trailer.

When: Saturday March 14, 8am to 11am

Where: City of Greater Bendigo's Depot in Adam Street, with entry via Thistle Street.

What to do on the day:

  1. Have your booking details ready to show City staff at the entry gate
  2. Follow the signs to collection area
  3. Stay in your car while your compost is loaded, follow staff directions to exit
  4. If you have booked a trailer load ticket, you must bring a tarp and cover your trailer before you leave.
  5. If you have booked a pre-bagged compost ticket, please line your boot or back seat prior to arriving. Bags are not sealed and may spill in transit.

Waitlist

If the event is fully booked, please join our waitlist. If a ticket becomes available, it will be offered to the next person on the list.

Please note that waitlist offers are valid for 30 minutes only. After this time, the ticket will be released to the next person in line. This timeframe is set by our ticketing system and cannot be changed.

Eligibility

Strict limits of 1 booking per household apply. Multiple or duplicate bookings will be cancelled and reallocated.

Only City of Greater Bendigo residents are eligible for this event. You will be required to provide your address during the registration process.

Residents with an exemption from the kerbside organics collection service are not eligible for this event. If registered, tickets will be cancelled and reallocated.

Yes, but you will still need to bring something to cover your compost.

Can I have more than 2 bags of compost?

Pre-bagged compost is strictly limited to 2 bags per household. If you require more compost, you will need to register for a trailer load ticket.

I missed out, what can I do?

If the event is booked out, please join our waitlist. If a ticket becomes available, it will be offered to the next person on the list.
